Season of Scenery Update!

Well, with the weather being nice at the moment, my wife has decided to have her say in my contributions towards Dave Stone’s Season of Scenery painting challenge!

She’s decided it’s about time I painted some 1800mm scale scenery i.e. the brickwork at the front of the house! She did let me choose which brush I wanted to use, but I had to think about that for a while!

Since she has my best interests at heart, she said I wasn’t allowed to go out and paint during the middle of the day when the UV level is at its highest and only an idiot would would argue with her! I realise that on that basis I’m well qualified but on this occasion I decided that, whereas discretion is the better part of valour, cowardice is the better part of discretion (a Terry Pratchett quote I think)!

This probably means I need to finish this off sometime this evening, although I think there’s maybe a football match or something happening then!

    • Thanks Dave! πŸ™‚ Can I please ask that you don’t include this on your challenge round up – it takes me about an hour to paint each brick with the brush I chose! πŸ˜‰ I’ll watch the football if I’ve got the rest of the wall painted!

    • Well, I’m not a football fan, but I watched the whole match, and that’s a notable event in itself! πŸ˜‰ A shame England didn’t win, but then again someone has to lose unfortunately (as far as wargames go, it’s usually me)!

  1. Didn’t watch it (went to bed early as had to be up at five), but had to listen to the whinging at work today, mostly how tired they all were coz they never got to bed till 11.30!

Couldn’t you build a small wall, paint that and tell your wife you got confused?

    Cheers Roger.

    • If there’s one thing I miss about being in the workplace, Roger (I’ve worked from home throughout), it’s being a footballaphobe (probbly not a real word) and not being able to wind up the self-proclaimed football experts, particularly when they bleat on about how “the best team should have won”, so I can sympathise with you! I did watch the final and it was a shame England didn’t win, but that’s life unfortunately.

Only a complete idiot would build a small wall, paint it and tell her that I’d got confused . . .

  2. I hope the rest of the 1/1 scale painting went well. Its not hard to pick out the details at that scale but man, it can really take some time! Its a shame that England came up short and in penalties of all places. As for Italy, they always beat the time I’m rooting for so that was a disappointing result for me.

  3. Bit late to the event here, as I too have been working on a lot of 1/1 scenery, mostly courtesy of the other half. Funny how these jobs come out of the woodwork when the footies on, almost like they do it on purpose!
Good choice of brush, tools for the job and all thatπŸ˜ƒ
